75 days from now, Labor Day Weekend. The weekend of September 2-4th, MSL has decided to do something big! Hold 4 6v6 tournaments simultaneously in 4 different locations at the same time, on the same day. On Monday September 4th, we will be holding 4 separate 6v6 tournaments in Denver, Baltimore, Fort Lauderdale and Orlando. We are fairly confident about our fields Baltimore will be held on turf at Utz Field in Patterson Park, the heart of Downtown Baltimore. Fort Lauderdale, also on turf at our home field Millspond Park. Denver hopefully on turf at Halftime Help Stadium and in Orlando on groomed Bermuda grass at Arcadia Acres pending Orange County Rec approval.
Registration is now open and we have set up an early bird period where players can already start saving $5 off players registration before July 21st. It is a 6v6 with a minimum roster of 8 players and a maximum of 10. We are hoping that many existing teams will want to sign up but might not have a full team of players but will still want to participate. In some cases, teams can also split up and play as two teams. We are offering both a Men’s Open Div and a Coed Open Div. Yes, we are also accepting free agent players and small groups of free agents looking to play together. There is also an option for captains to also pay upfront for their full team as long as they pay for at least 8 players. They can save $50 by do this.
The tournament is open to all MSL teams and we welcome all new teams and players looking to play soccer all day. We are guaranteeing at least 3 games. 60 minutes. We have recently updated the MSL rules for 6v6 on the MSL website. You can review the newly updated rules here. But most notably different is that there is no Off-sides, players sub on the fly and the goalie must touch either a player or their side of the field( ground) when distributing the ball before it enters the other side of the field.
